Hot Springs Secret Lagoon
Encircling the Secret Lagoon, there’re lots of steaming hot springs that redirect your view every single time you try to focus on one of them. There’s even a little geysir right next to the swimming pool that erupts every now and then! Can you spot it on the pictures? I took my time to witness the eruption several times in a row. Watching the little water hole filling itself up with water until it bursts away can be such a meditating process. Yet, it reminds me of the natural cycle of all things and beings.
Geothermal Area
In fact, I love the way that nature and farming go hand in hand in the Flúðir area around Gamla laugin – and that both of them are clearly visible. The power of nature on the one hand, the useful benefit of it on the other hand. Hence, there’re greenhouses all around the pool, as well as some pipes, tractors and other utility cars. This pragmatic sense of beauty is one that is mostly underestimated and has its own charme.

Iceland is so, so much on my travel bucket list! Your photos give me goosebumps.

Actually, I don’t have a bucket list, but I love to return to places I once fell in love with again and again. x
