Perhaps, I’m a bit late, but the first days of the new year went by in a heartbeat! Óskar and I’ve had some wonderful days in Reykjavík, and I’m ready for many more adventures to come in 2016. When I’m with him, all the small things in everyday life get fascinating and life itself somehow begins to sparkle. It’s as simple as that – a wonderful feeling.
Although I’m not a big fan of endless reviews, I gave in to temptation and scrolled through the last year of outfit posts. It’s been the first year of my blog which got launched in late November 2014, and it’s been an exciting year switching between different places in Sweden, Iceland, Northern Germany and Denmark.
I’ve always loved to travel and tried to explore as many countries, cultures and landscapes as possible. Since I started getting ‘older’ (which simply means that I’m not in my teenage years anymore), I still like the nomadic idea as such, but I prefer to turn back to certain fixed spots again and again. I love the idea of having different places where I feel at home, but don’t feel any longer the inward urge to visit the whole wide world. Perhaps, I simply got rid of the feeling I could miss out on something. I’ve already found home(s). That’s probably one of the most comforting feelings I’ve ever conceived.
In February, I bought my first Canon camera together with a 50 mm lens, and taking pictures has been so much (more) fun since then. Nevertheless, Óskar and I still struggle to master the camera at times… In September, the blog got a new design and a new website, turning the old .se-domain into an international .com-domain. Although I was not able to transfer your lovely comments from the old webpage, I’m still really happy with the blog’s surface make-over. By the way: Reading your kind comments always makes me smile! Every single one of them! Happily enough, I haven’t received any inappropriate insulting comments yet, and this general gentleness really makes me having faith in digital collaborative intelligence again.
Your favourite outfit posts in 2015 have been quite surprising to me: The most clicked articles were an oversized cardigan in Gothenburg’s twilight, the inspiration post on pastel colours, and this colourful millefleurs vintage dress.
My own favourites would be three minimal outfits in black: A monochrome poncho look, a tuxedo blouse with skinny jeans, and the very first outfit shot with my own DSLR camera in spring, a casual combination of black and denim. This outfit especially reminds me of the wonderful time Óskar and I had in Gothenburg before we moved away from Sweden’s beautiful west coast.
For sure, I’ve always had a thing for puristic black-and-white outfits and reduced colour tones. But lately, it got even more intense: I tend to wear black-allover almost every day and still can’t get enough of it. We’ll see where this affinity takes me in 2016. I hope all of you’ve had a wonderful start in 2016, too! x
