Sleeping is my biggest hobby. If no one stops me, I can easily sleep for 12 hours or more every single day.
I love to be on my own and I’m never bored.
Most of my favourite dishes are made of dough: crêpes, self-made pasta, pizza, tarte flambée – and so many more.
My favourite fruit is blueberries (closely followed by fresh local strawberries). If there were no more blueberries, the world would be a dark and sad place, I think.
When I was a child, I thought that testing restaurants sounded like the perfect job. (And I somehow still think so.)
I love learning foreign languages. One day, I’d love to learn Ivrit, better known as Modern Hebrew. This has been a dream of mine for many years.
I was raised in a small town in Frisia at the North Sea. Thus, I’m really into Frisian culture, handicraft and languages.
I’ve always been into onomastics. One of the first books that I owned as a child was a book about given names. I can’t remember how often I used to read that tiny book. Until today, I keep a list of my favourite names and name combinations. It still grows steadily.
I usually avoid hollywood or blockbuster films and prefer smaller productions from Europe. Malicious gossip has it that my favourite films are typically long-winded, boring and depressing. However, at least it’s true that I don’t like cinematic happy endings!
My favourite historical artist is Danish painter Vilhelm Hammershøi. His minimal colour palette and ever-recurring melancholic motifs really touch me time after time.
