New Swimwear: Triangl Brigitte American Girl
One sentence that I use quite often: It’s odd to see how such a tiny piece of fabric can make you so happy. – But in the current case, it proved to be true again. When the customer service of Triangl approached me by saying that I was allowed to chose one of their gorgeous swimwear sets, I was simply thrilled.
Choice of style
As all of you probably know, the neoprene material has a very special fit and it’s not comparable to any bikini that I had before. Now I really get the hype and all the excitement that came up on social media within the last months and years. Still, it was quite difficult to take a decision in the beginning since there’re so many beautiful designs to choose from. So many different colours – neon-coloured, metallic, black or denim – and different shapes for tops and bottoms. In the end, I went for one of the latest designs from the current season: light blue Brigitte style with denim and crochet details. It’s not as minimalistic as the black ‘understatement’ bikinis (which I would usually go for), but still somewhat reduced in terms of colour. I love the stretchy denim material which is sewed on the neoprene fabric. It has a gorgeous surface feel, and the light blue colour looks really classy in combination with the black and white seams.
The only thing I would have loved to get along with my Triangl set, would have been the little colour matching neoprene bag. All balconette style bikinis, however, come with a black cardboard box instead of a scuba bag (i.e. not only Brigitte, but also Milly and Poppy style). Of course, the box generates the epitomy of an ‘unboxing experience’. But since it’s too big for my swimwear drawer, I still need to find out how to store my new pieces in a proper way. The box makes it a bit more difficult to store the pieces seperately and to travel with them.
My next choice – and I feel the urgent need to get more of these lovely bikinis – would probably be another balconette design. I’m craving for purist black Milly – New York Noir, Poppy – Santa Rosa Splash in bright blue or Poppy – Melon Rose with metallic elements. To make a long story short: it’s a hopeless decision making process, I just can’t tell which one I like the most. They all look gorgeous. For the time being, I’m more than happy with the denim design I chose!
Before I placed my order, I was quite confused since there’re so many different suggestions that circulate among social media and the blogosphere. Should I order my ‘normal’ size, should I size up or should I contact the live chat (again and again)? The neoprene is not as stretchable as regular swimwear material, but it probably looks best with a tight fit that doesn’t wrinkle up. Although I tried to choose well, the bikini top didn’t fit at first. Fair enough, it was no problem at all to return it and get a replacement top instead. Triangl’s customer service was very kind and helpful. Shipping took just a couple of working days, and now, I’ve finally got my perfect swimwear set. It’s such a good thing that you can combine different sizes for tops and bottoms. Of course, I can only rely on my own experience, but I chose my ‘normal’ size for the bikini bottom and decided to size up for the balconette top in the end.
(Upcoming) field trial
As you know, one of my favourite things to do in Reykjavík (and in life in general) is to go swimming in the city’s numerous thermal outdoor pools. If it was up to me, I would probably be in the water all day long – every single day. I don’t really know why but hot cosy water is definitely my favourite element. In a month’s time, Óskar and I are going to be on our way to Iceland again for Christmas, new year and some weeks in addition. I’m so excited and can’t wait to give my new swimwear a first try over there.
